The company’s latest innovation, Door-to-Door services to Singapore, will help lower costs and improve supply chain management for garment producers, importers and exporters, starting from purchasing and procurement through to delivery to retail customers, said Strategic Director Wallapa Stirachavarn.

Turning a crisis into an opportunity
Confronted with exchange risks, high travel and personnel costs as well as Thailand’s political crisis, private entrepreneurs and garment importers who used to fly in and stay in Bangkok for 3-5 days to select, inspect and pay for garments, are now having to review their buying patterns.

“Eagles Air & Sea’s Total Garment Logistics solution starts from Order Management and follows through with inspection of export products at wholesale outlets, which are mainly in Patunam and Platinum Plaza.  We also arrange payments and the transportation of goods to Singapore.  Both importers and exporters can rest assured that trade transactions will not be disrupted.  Buyers’ travel expenses will be minimized, allowing more time and resources for designing and developing new products.  As a result, sales volumes and profits will improve, benefiting exporters and importers in the small and medium-sized sector,” added Wallapa.

Convenient Door-to-Door services that comply with specified shipment dates, final delivery points and cargo weights currently account for 10 tons of air cargo handled by Eagle Air & Sea each month.  Around 40% of major customers for the company’s logistics solution are textile and garment companies, food products, petrochemicals and electronics.

Halal Markets
Another area of Eagles’ specialization is food logistics, which includes the Halal food market currently valued at USD 547,000 million, equivalent to 12% of total global trade in agricultural products.  This market is projected to exceed USD 550,000 million in 2011.

Eagles Air & Sea is the sole Halal Logistics service provider that has signed an MOU with the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand, with the aim of promoting joint planning and the development of a Halal logistics system.

Today’s Muslim population of 2 billion lives in 110 countries and will represent up to 30% of the world’s population by 2025 - hence the growing significance of Halal food logistics.

Free Zone Solution
The company also offers a Free Zone Solution and consulting services for exporters and importers who wish to use free zones to explore new business opportunities within the framework of the ASEAN Economic Community and various bilateral free trade agreements that Thailand has agreed.

“Most business enterprises prefer to use shipping and air freight services because truck costs are very high.  However, producers in Khon Kaen, Mukdaharn and Ubon Rachathani will be able to make use of the new Greater Mekong Sub-regional (GMS) routes to China and Vietnam,” said Wallapa.

Recent global economic turmoil has forced Thai businesses to shift focus from Europe and the U.S.A. to Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and other Asian markets. Likewise, Eagles Air & Sea has diversified its product portfolio and has been exploring new markets such as Uganda and Uzbekistan since 2008.

“Opening up new markets presents a major challenge.  Our company has focused on upgrading services, exploring growth opportunities and strengthening international competitiveness.  Eagles Air & Sea differentiates itself by the ability to offer strategic advice and customized solutions that match the specific needs of individual customers.  PTT is one of the company’s prime customers for Logistics Solution,” said Wallapa.

Having upgraded hardware and software systems during the past year, Eagles Air & Sea will continue to participate in the Ministry of Industrial Promotion’s Manufacturing Development to Improve Competitiveness Programme (MDICP) for the third consecutive year.
