R3 logistic route expanded to increase Thai-Chinese trade value

BANGKOK, 10 August 2010 (NNT) – The Ministry of Commerce is accelerating to expand R3 transportation route and Chiang Saen Pier 2 to tighten Thai-Chinese trade ties with an increase of trade value between the two nations to 50 billion USD .

 

Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Polaboot stated after the meeting with the Governor of Yunnan province of China that the Thai side confirmed to expedite in extending the R3 logistic route, from Yunnan to Bangkok and to build up another pier in Chiang Saen as requested by the Yunnan Governor. He said that those projects had been halted for sometimes from Thai internal unrest and the Government would accelerate the project so as to deal with trade expansion of the two countries.

 

Mr Alongkorn added that he had also asked the Yunnan Governor to facilitate Thai fruit exports as the complicated investigation procedure of Yunnan side caused delay in the process. The Deputy Commerce Minister elaborated that the tightened relations between Thailand and China would create higher value of trade to 50 billion USD from 33 billion USD at the moment.
