As part of the ground breaking partnership, CEVA will implement its best of breed automotive logistics processes and IT systems to manage the distribution of Isuzu vehicles throughout Thailand.
“We want our supply chain to operate at global best practice levels and to significantly improve our total vehicle sales operation to support our extensive dealer network in Thailand,” said Tri Petch’s spokesperson.
“We have selected a specialist global logistics company so that we can increase the operational efficiency of our supply chain,” added Tri Petch’s spokesperson.
CEVA will manage Tri Petch’s finished vehicle supply chain from the production plants through to final delivery to the dealers. This will include transportation of the vehicles from Isuzu’s plants in Samutprakarn and Chacheongsao to two motor pools, where the finished vehicles are inspected, accessories installed and the vehicles made ready for final delivery to Tri Petch’s dealers.
On 1st April 2008 CEVA started a process of operational process improvement and re-engineering in order to increase the quality of the logistics operation up to world class standards. A key part of the operational development will involve the establishment of a shared-user finished vehicle logistics network to be used by other automotive OEMs and automotive sales companies. This will improve overall efficiency of the supply chain and provide a highly cost effective operation for Tri Petch and CEVA’s new customers. CEVA will use more than 100 car carriers to perform the transportation, along with a management and operational team of over 400 staff.
“This is one of the largest automotive logistics contracts in the Thai market and we are delighted to have been selected by Tri Petch. Our key aim is to improve the efficiency of Tri Petch’s vehicle handling operation by implementing CEVA’s best practice Lean processes and increasing overall control,” said Winfried Kiesbueye, Managing Director, CEVA Logistics Thailand.
“This adds a whole new dimension to our existing automotive services. We will be operating over 100 car transporters throughout the country every day and it is an exciting opportunity for us to expand our services to the automotive sector,” added Mr. Kiesbueye.
