Mr. Dean Thorpe, a new managing director of CEVA Logistics (Thailand)

Mr. Dean Thorpe, a new managing director of CEVA Logistics (Thailand) reveals his point of view on a situation of competitive economy in Thailand that Thailand has got a significant potential market growth.  Therefore, it’s not very easy to approach competitive markets in Thailand. You need to be very careful when choosing which sector you want to go in, or else you could end up badly. CEVA also prepares to be competitive in pricing with the local players as well as be able to provide international services. Now the most mature market in Thailand is the automotive market and CEVA has been very successfully in sector because on-time delivery is the heart CEVA is operating.

Apart from that, there’s also a concern about FTA which Mr. Dean Thorpe thinks it should be beneficial for Thailand.  As for CEVA, there is still no clear plan on how to handle this yet, but is expecting to talk to their top 50 customers in Thailand in order to understand customers’ need and how it would affect their companies.

FTA in ASEAN will perhaps enable all countries to be as equivalent as EU in next 10 years. Nevertheless, there’re certain negative points for Thailand being as a hub centre.  A political instability in Thailand is a great concern to overseas companies who would take it seriously because of what they see on the news, unless living and working here, it’s hard for them to understand that it’s not as serious as it may look. Therefore, this problem needs to get sorted over a short period of time so we could focus on how to make Thailand as a hub.
